Описание к видео What's the real differences between chiropractors and physiotherapists

Chiropractors and physiotherapists are often overlapping in the treatments they provide. Insurance benefits is really the big difference as chiropractors fall under chiropractic insurance part and physiotherapists are used under physiotherapy insurance part. Insurance is usually $500 for each practitioner like chiropractic, physiotherapist, massage therapy, naturopathic doctor, acupuncturist, etc. There is the odd insurance that lumps all healthcare practitioners and gives a set amount like $2000, however this is rare.
Another myth is that people are often told by their medical doctors that they need to see a physiotherapist for their problem and thus people tend to narrow their scope to only seeking out physiotherapists. Both chiropractors and physiotherapists have grown in their skills, as before it was thought that chiropractors only adjust joints and physiotherapists only give exercise rehab, but rather they both offer techniques that are overlapping in many cases. Medical doctors are more comfortable referring to physiotherapists since they have worked together for years in hospitals and therefore they default to referring to physiotherapists. What your doctor are really saying when they say go see a physiotherapist is find see a qualified healthcare practitioner that has assessment and rehabilitation skills to determine your condition and the proper treatment. General medical doctors often don't have the skills or interest to be experts in diagnosing muscle, ligament, nerve, and joint conditions. Sports medicine doctors, physiotherapists, and chiropractors who work with sports or active people regularly use a variety of soft tissue techniques like active release technique, instrument assisted soft tissue techniques, acupuncture, shockwave, exercises, etc; which are not exemplary to any one profession.
A good practitioner often uses hands-on treatment for diagnosing and treating. Using directional force by one's hands or with patient active movements and/or specific exercises are very important. Exams and tests should be measured and show value to the patient by steady improvements during visits over the course of treatments eg. bending forward to 30 cms and then improving to 25, 20, 16, and 10 cms on subsequent treatments. Patients should think what is the goals of treatment, purpose of treatment, and plan of treatment. Overall it is not about just feeling good when you leave your appointment, but showing sustained improvement towards your ultimate goal of maximal health benefit.
