Swan Lake Flip Through with Tips for Beginner Junk Journal Makers

Hi there! Are you ready to add some vintage charm to your journals? Stick around to see how I transform everyday items into beautiful pages with a Junk Journal Flip Through using:

• Swan Lake Printable and Lined Pages from my Etsy Shop
• Tea-dyed copy paper
• Scrapbook paper
• Pages from an illustrated book
• Tracing Paper
• Newsprint
• Vintage ephemera, vintage photos, and vintage fabrics.
• Embellishments – some of which are handmade like faux vintage tape and rusty staples.
I hope to demonstrate how using new things, recycled materials, and authentic vintage items can create a cohesive theme and a beautiful flow to your handmade junk journal.

Tips:
• Use a simple colour palette: i.e. Blue, yellow, pink, and “vintage neutral.”
• Use thicker paper for the outside and middle of signatures to give them stability for sewing.
• Use a variety of types of paper to create dimension, interest, and a variety of textures, both visual and physical.
• Use a formula to arrange signatures such as:
• Printable
• Music Sheet
• Tea-dyed
• Repeat then flip through before adding anything else or sewing to see how it flows.
• Partner papers” to complement each other, rearrange as necessary
• Then add ephemera such as envelopes. Note: You can add your flipouts and pockets now or wait until you sew the signatures to the spine.
• Then embellish!
