Today we're discussing dialogue. For the longest time, I've simply been writing the dialogue from within the GameMaker engine - however, concerns over accessibility and ease of access have grown. In order to allow the dialogue to be edited by other writers who are not used to the GameMaker interface, as well as prepare the game for localisation, and organise the dialogue in one centralised file, we look to loading the dialogue externally.

For now, we have decided to go with sharing a Google Sheets document that allows us to write, sort, and filter dialogue. Then, we can export the sheet as a .csv file which is read into GameMaker and shunted through a few scripts.
