Tango „Nachts ging das Telefon" - Robert Gaden Orch.

Описание к видео Tango „Nachts ging das Telefon" - Robert Gaden Orch.

„Nachts ging das Telefon" -- a German tango, with a „mysterious" and seductive line of music has already been presented by Erwin in a vocal form (which is rather a melo-declamation), rendered by Hilde Hildebrandt.
Impressed me enough to reach for the instrumental version of that tango which I treasure very much, made by Robert Gaden (1893-1985), a German instrumentalist of French origin, director of the tango orchestra who made many recordings in Germany in late 30's for Electrola label, characteristic of a sublime and sophisticated style and performance; my favourite. Believe, will appear at my channel again.

Much later, in 1969, Luchino Visconti accepted this tango as one of the musical motives of his great picture - "The Damned", Italian: "La caduta degli dei", German: "Götterdämmerung", Polish: "Zmierzch bogów".
If I remember well, it might be heard in the scenes played by Ingrid Thulin and Helmut Berger.

In my film...:)..here presented, following "fabulous faces of a silver screen" (from my collection) can be seen: Joan Crawford, Dolores del Rio, Lana Turner, Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., Hedy Lamarr, Gloria Swanson, Cary Grant, as well as a few exchange room silhouettes -- found 'on-line'.
