Consecration of King Olav V of Norway in 1958

Описание к видео Consecration of King Olav V of Norway in 1958

In 1908 the coronation ceremony was abolished, and replaced by a much simpler ceremony where the king swear an oath to the parliament. It was argued that the king does not get his power from God, but the people. All the kings after that however, have still wanted a blessing from the church, as a sort of unofficial confirmation of his reign.
The consecration, just as the coronation before that, is preformed by the bishop of Nidaros. Norway's biggest cathedral, in Trondheim.
