Why You Should Visit Rottnest Island 🇦🇺

Meet the quokka - the happiest animal in the world!

In today's video i'm off to to meet the Quokkas on Rottnest Island, on the south western coast of Australia.

These small marsupials were once described by a Dutch explorer as “a kind of rat”, and therefore named the island where they can be found as Rottnest (Rats Nest) Island. There are roughly 10,000 quokkas on Rottnest island, which is only 30 minutes by ferry from Fremantle, Western Australia.

These little fur balls are from the same family as kangaroos and wallabies known as Macropodidae. They move around like their cousins by hopping and bounding with their small feet and short tails. Because they’re marsupials, the mothers also carry baby quokkas, known as joeys, in little pouches!
