McCullough Peaks Wild Horse Range Sept. 10, 2022. Near Cody Wyoming.

This was my first visit to the McCullough peaks horse range. I was a little lost getting around.
I really didn’t know where the horses were or which herds I would see. I just ventured out and hoped for the best.
After taking the wrong road across country I finally found a herd close to the main entrance of the range. My bad for taking the long way and almost getting stuck in a gumbo creek bed. I do not know the names of any of the horses in this herd since it was my first visit.
The scenery in the area is amazing. I couldn’t get enough of it. But in the same breath I wondered how these horses can survive on almost no foliage. Where would they hide from the elements with no trees, no cover, just vast land with no forgiveness. But they do survive and flourish. They are amazingly resilient.
I hope to return this next summer, hopefully with a better game plan. I realize that my photos and videos are not the greatest compared to the professional photographers in the area but I still hope that you can enjoy the horses and the scenery.
