Shaving Cream

Written in 1946 by Benny Bell, Shaving Cream is a classic example of the ‘Party Song’; off-color tunes that were only available in record stores and intended for parties that I, for one, would like to have been invited to.

It wasn’t until the 1970’s when the influential Dr. Demento (the man responsible for discovering ‘'Weird Al’ Yankovic!) featured the song on his popular radio show reviving interest and turning it into a hit that reached #30 on the Billboard Charts.

I first discovered this song in Jr. High School (of course) and have loved it ever since.
