DIY food tour of Casablanca, Morocco: Join me as we venture through the vibrant streets, indulging in a variety of mouthwatering Moroccan cuisine.

Our food adventure comes about due to a last-minute let down from a guided food tour. Undeterred, we set out on our own culinary exploration shortly after arriving in Casablanca from Marrakech via a scenic train ride. Our first stop is La Sqala Casablanca, a renowned restaurant nestled within the old city ramparts. Here, we savor an array of typical Moroccan dishes, including refreshing fruit juices like a date and milk concoction, a flavorful vegetable tajine, and a trio of briouates filled with meat, chicken, and fish.

Fuelled by our appetites, we go on a leisurely stroll across town, eventually rewarding ourselves at Happy Rolls Casablanca. This trendy ice cream parlour introduced us to the delightful world of ice cream rolls or stir-fried ice cream—a unique treat that leaves us enchanted.

As evening descends, we make our way to Casablanca Creperie Naim, where we have the pleasure of sampling their famous Moroccan crepes, Crêppa Naim. Inspired by the traditional Moroccan chicken and almond bastila, these crepes exemplify the wonders of Moroccan street food.

The following day, despite the disappointment of our canceled food tour, we seize the opportunity to explore the bustling Casablanca Central Marketplace, also known as the Casablanca fish market. Overwhelmed but eager to immerse ourselves in the experience, we are graciously guided by locals and treated to a captivating show by the fishmonger. Our decision on which vendor to choose is settled by a coin toss—an unexpected twist that adds to the excitement.

To end the day on a sweet note, we make a delightful visit to Palais Al Sham, a traditional Syrian sweets shop, where we discover an unexpected treasure trove of confections. Our adventure is just beginning, as we prepare to join an Intrepid Tour in the upcoming videos, where our fellow travelers will help us savor some of these culinary delights during a long train journey.
