Nintendo's Prototype Wii Emulator for the GameCube

Описание к видео Nintendo's Prototype Wii Emulator for the GameCube

In 2005, Nintendo’s engineers were working on early prototypes for their next console, known to fans as the Nintendo Revolution and eventually the Wii. But even though most of its hardware had already been designed by the end of the year, they hadn’t produced any working consoles yet. The console that Nintendo showed off at E3 2005 was just a plastic shell, as core components hadn’t even been prototyped yet. The teams working on the Wii’s operating system needed a way to start development to get everything ready in time for the planned 2006 launch date, so Nintendo’s engineers quickly built a system that would use a GameCube development console, three special accessories never meant to be seen outside of the company, and two PCs each running different operating systems to let them start working on Wii software without actually having any Wiis. This is the story of the Revolution Emulator, Nintendo’s prototype Wii emulator for the GameCube.
