Rare Deutz-Fahr TopLiner 8 XL combine cutting wheat | Harvest 2015

Описание к видео Rare Deutz-Fahr TopLiner 8 XL combine cutting wheat | Harvest 2015

A very rare Deutz-Fahr TopLiner 8 XL combine is cutting winter wheat in this video. At the time of it's introduction - during the mid/late 90s - this machine was the biggest combine ever build. It has eight straw walkers to thresh out the grain. On the front is an 8,20m header, which was the mid model of the range. A 7,5m and 9m model were also available.

As with many of Deutz' novel machines it never was much of an success. It lacked capacity compared to other machines such as the Lexion 480, which was launched in the same era. Some parts were crude and with many self propelled Deutz machines it had a tendency of catching fire. In the end not many were build. They were never sold new in The Netherlands. The owner of this machine bought it second hand from Northern Germany. It is believed to have been Deutz' own demonstrator and stood outside for a while, hence the fading colour.

It is seen cutting a crop of winter wheat on the evening of August the 3rd 2015. The grain was fit and dry but the straw wasn't. The green straw is reducing it's capacity significantly. The combine was fitted as standard with a lot of electronic gadgets such as a yield meter that could be connected to GPS. This is still working but not in use. Sadly the machine was to advanced for it's time and Deutz never made any attempts to improve the crude design.
