In a discussion with News9's Jisha Surya, Reni Antony, member of Kerala State Committee for Protection of Child Rights, said that co-education was the declared policy of the Kerala Government. Dr Mohan Roy, psychiatrist, is of the opinion that the child rights panel should take initiative for providing gender sensitivity training for school teachers. While, Vasha Venugopal, former chairperson of St Teresa's college, said that girls-only institutions provide better life skill training for women than mixed schools, Amal Chandra, NSUI general secretary of Pondicherry University, called for state government's intervention in addressing issues of gender discrimination, sex education and so on.
