Doing job interviews is always nerve wracking, also for Game Developers. 😬

As I recently shared, I moved to a new company this year (2022), so I have done some interviews myself recently. But I also have been actively involved in the interview processes in my previous job. This is why I knew about the common mistakes most interviewees make and use this in my advantage during my own interviews when I was job searching.

That's why I am sharing you my tips and tricks so you can use them to your own advantage as well. But also so you know what to prepare yourself for in case you are really nervous for your first interview(s).

The topics I talk about are:
How to land your first interview.
What do you need to prepare and how do you make yourself stand out?

How to handle the first interview.
Realize that the first interview is NOT an interrogation but goes both ways. The company will screen you to see if you are a good fit. But this must also be the other way around by you screening them if it is a fun place to work at.

Technical assignment and interview.
Be careful and thoughtful during the assignment and interview. Develop something debatable and have as much fun as you can as this assignment often represents your work when you get hired.

Rejection.
Unfortunately rejection is also part of the process. But don't take it too hard, ask for feedback and know there are always multiple reasons. So, accept it and know it's not your fault.
