Inspiratie 2017 presents to you, Avelo Roy, an IIT alumnus who embarked on his entrepreneurial journey at 19, when his friends were still studying in college. And by 22, he built it to a million dollar valuation when his classmates were just coming out of the college. Mr. Roy, who studied at Calcutta Boys’ School, left India at an early age to study at Cambridge and then at Illinois Institute of Technology. And now when many people of his age are scouting for investors and mentors to start off their own ventures, he has floated ‘Kolkata Ventures’ to promote, incubate and even fund innovative entrepreneurial ideas from where his roots are — Kolkata. Through Kolkata Ventures, he hopes to stimulate the startup scene of Eastern India with Kolkata’s name in the forefront. Apart from being a veteran Entrepreneur, Mr. Roy is also a Motivational Speaker and Life Coach. A holder of three technology-related patents, he was invited to speak on entrepreneurship education at the White House after receiving honours from the California State Senate and has also been featured on CNN Money, ABC7, Huffington Post and other US news media.
