Fernando Sor - Study op. 6 no. 8 - Counterpoint And Polyphony On Guitar

The expressions of praise for Sor as a composer are countless: "the Beethoven of the guitar", or Mendelssohn and Schubert are widely spread claims of fame.

Actually his style in many studies are to some degree nearer to J.S. Bach and polyphonic counterpoint than to the typical style of the classic and romantic era.

I took the Study Andantino op 6 no. 8 (Segovia No. 1) to find evidence of Sor's skills in writing masterful contrapuntal miniatures.
