Описание к видео Oersted's experiment using a 120 Volts AC supply, a magnetic compass,135 ohm rheostat(for ~1 Ampere)

Hans Christian Oersted's experiment Reconstruction with modifications - using a 120 Volts AC supply, a magnetic compass & a 135 ohms rheostat ( AC circuit loop current ~ 1 Ampere).

This demonstrates the magnetic effect of an electric current - in this case, an AC alternating current's, not a DC or direct current's magnetic effect.

The switching on or off of the circuit current provides the changing surge of magnetic flux or magnetic field indicated by the large deflection of the magnetic compass needle.

So is there appreciable movement of the free electrons in the copper wire conductors carrying the AC currents ? as indicated by the large magnetic flux change and magnetic field produced ? As in DC currents where the free electrons travel at the rate of a few millimeters per second ?

Since the latest theory of electricity says that the free electrons in the wire carrying AC current only oscillate very small distances about a mean position as per the frequency of the AC voltage applied , and it is only the oscillating AC electric field applied across the wire that propagates through the copper wire as an electromagnetic wave.

Then how come the significant deflections and oscillations of the magnetic compass needle ?

Is it due to the power of synchronized oscillations of the free electrons in the copper wire ?

A kind of synchronized or locked state of the shifting oscillating free electrons seen in another way as a propagating Electric field wave propagating at the rate of the AC voltage frequency, based on the changing AC voltage distributions along the wire and the rate of their displacement or oscillations accompanied by the magnetic field wave corresponding to the magnetic field variations produced .

Remember moving charges produce their associated small minute magnetic flux and magnetic fields. And their combined effect is manifested as the larger magnetic flux changes, ( the concept of magnetic flux lines and magnetic fields were first conceived by Faraday ), and the higher layer of Maxwellian magnetic field changes.

The combined produced larger aggregated magnetic flux changes deflect the magnetic compass needle , but the needle cannot mechanically respond to their high rate of 50 cycles per second oscillations .

( Without a rheostat , the experiment can be done using a 200 Watt load like for example, a 200 Watt filament bulb connected to the 240 Volts AC Mains power supply.
This would provide the approximate 1 Ampere needed to see large deflections of the magnetic compass needle )

CAUTION : Since the AC 120 Volts power supply is being used and an AC current approx. 1 Ampere, all precautions need to be taken to prevent any Electrical shock hazards .
Better another person preferably an elder could be assisting .
