GP15s working on the Union Pacific in Minnesota -Roots Blown EMD 645s-

Описание к видео GP15s working on the Union Pacific in Minnesota -Roots Blown EMD 645s-

Union Pacific is the last class 1 railroad in the United States to still have a fleet of EMD GP15s, aka "baby tunnel motors", working. While UP never purchased them directly, they acquired them from mergers with the the Missouri Pacific and CNW. In this video, we'll see a pair of former MoPac GP15-1s, with the leader still in NLR paint, working the local on the line down to Montgomery MN on two different days. The little units sound great with their roots blown engines, and have a very throaty sound to them.

The first shots feature the line from New Prague to Montgomery. We'll see the depot in its Minneapolis and Saint Louis colors as the local passes the now closed mill. Other shots feature it working along the jointed rail, fields, and rolling hills along the line.

The second half of the video starts off in Shakopee as the train cuts through town, in an almost street running like scene. The geeps had a lot of cars, and it gave the engines a good little workout. We will hear the veteran EMDs working up hill, and rolling along the lines classic jointed rail in many spots.

Enjoy these geeps while you can! Word on the street is that UP is retiring them in the near future.
