The Hellacopters, from Sweden, in interview and full performance from the Bowery Ballroom on their "Rock & Roll Is Dead" tour. (Though whenever the Hellacopters play, rock & roll is clearly very much alive.) From 1994-2008 they produced numerous excellent albums, EPs, singles (including a collaboration with Detroit legend Scott Morgan) and word is they are re-forming and recording in 2020. Their most obvious influence is the MC5 (from whom, in true rock & roll tradition, they copped some riffs and moves), but they have also incorporated numerous other rock and soul influences into creating a sound which is very much their own.
