[AOV Explained] Average Order Value Calculation for Ecommerce

In this video, I will show you a FREE and EASY process to calculate the Average Order Value for your Ecommerce store using Google Sheets.

What is AOV (Average Order Value)?
Average order value is the average amount of money a customer spends every time that customer purchases from your store. You will use a very simple formula to calculate your AOV:
Total revenue / number of orders = average order value

But we can make this even simpler using Google Sheets! Here are the easy steps you can follow:
1. Go to you Shopify Dashboard and navigate to the Order section.
2. Click EXPORT, then choose ALL ORDERS, and export as PLAIN CSV.
3. Click EXPORT ORDERS.
You will then receive an email (the one that's linked to you Shopify account) a link to download the CSV file.
4. Open up the file using Excel or any spreadsheet program you are using. Or you can export the file directly to Google sheet.
5. Select/copy the whole file, then paste to Google sheets (choose Paste as values only).
6. Open up a new sheet/tab.
7. Use the Average formula in Google Sheets to calculate AOV:
for example: =average(Sheet1!L:L)
