BLACKSMITHING | Twist Wrench Build

Описание к видео BLACKSMITHING | Twist Wrench Build

In between heats on another project, I added a fancy upper handle to a 109 year old monkey wrench to make a bar twist wrench for the forge. I use other folks’ wrenches normally, but when I saw this wrench at a swap-meet, a light bulb went off in my head and I decided to finally make my own.

I used 3/4” cold rolled square bar, drew it to a long point, curled that point into a fern frond shape, and then put a double twist in the bar. There was some sort of issue between me and the TIG welder when attaching the two pieces - I blame myself and not the equipment. My welds never look like that, but I just had issues with the pedal and the stick feed. Again, it was me and my inability to get my head, hands, and foot working in concert on this particular day.

I do like how it turned out overall and I ended up using it at the end of the day on a section of 1/2” material. It worked like a charm!
