Filmed mainly on location at Pleasley colliery and the surrounding areas near to Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, England.

Pleasley Pit was sunk in 1873 and produced coal until 1983.
Pleasley Colliery is now a Scheduled Ancient Monument and has been developed and maintained as a Mining Heritage site, Museum, Nature Reserve, Visitors Centre & Tourist Attraction.
