I had been staying away from home the previous night and was travelling light so was using my old lightweight tripod which simply couldn't cope with the springiness of the Citadel's Platform 3 - apologies for the earthquake effects.
Visits from Sir Nigel are infrequent so, despite the weather, the crowds were out in force.
Passengers on the Settle and Carlisle Fellsman from Blackpool must have had a disappointing trip over the Long Drag in the morning, although the weather was improving as they departed at 3.20 p.m. so, perhaps, their return journey was happier.
