We analyze whether this "Japanese-inspired break" advertisement truly delivers on its promise of an escape.

The Ad-Vengers put this campaign under the microscope, discussing the Visual Contrast; how KitKat uses cool, neutral tones and generic scenes of tired corporate workers and students to signify the "stress world," before contrasting it with the serene, nature-filled world of the "break". Also, The Soundscape of Escape; how the music shifts dramatically from chaotic, uptempo "stress music" to a calm, ambient, distinctly East Asian-inspired soundscape, heavily relying on traditional Japanese instruments like the shakuhachi (bamboo flute) and koto.
