The TROOPY has taken us to some epic places in AUSTRALIA, but this place is up there with the best so far. We TRAVEL and EXPLORE the Francois Peron National Park, which has been on our list for a while. We tackle the 4WD tracks, camp in some cool CAMPING spots, spot some awesome marine life, and swim in the blue waters. The colours are next level, and the whole place just has a vibe!

FRANCOIS PERON NATIONAL PARK CAMPGROUNDS (NORTH OF DENHAM - REMOTE)

BIG LAGOON - 35 CAMPSITES
The Big Lagoon camping area has well spaced camp sites and sheltered decking, toilets and barbecue facilities near the shoreline. You are welcome to fish in the lagoon south of the camping area but fishing and crabbing are prohibited in Big Lagoon's northern waters (an important fish nursery area). These are protected within a sanctuary zone in the Shark Bay Marine Park. Drop nets for crabs are allowed but set netting and spearfishing are not permitted. To protect dolphins and dugongs, waterskiing and freestyle jet skiing are not permitted.

SOUTH GREGORIES - 2 LOOPS - 6 CAMPSITES
Smaller camping area. Campers need to be self reliant at South Gregories, as facilities are basic. There is no drinking water so ensure you bring enough for your stay. Fishing is popular and whiting, bream and kingfish can all be caught in the area. Dinghies can be launched from the beach with care.

Fishing is popular and whiting, bream and snapper can all be caught in the area.

BOTTLE BAY - 3 LOOPS - 13 CAMPSITES
Campers need to be self-sufficient at Bottle Bay, as facilities are basic.
There is no drinking water so ensure you bring enough for your stay.
It's a great spot to catch whiting, bream and snapper. Dinghies can be launched from the beach with care.

HERALD BIGHT - UNMARKED BEACH CAMPING
At the end of a rough, sandy track, this was the location of a pearling camp in the late 1880's and old pearl shells can still be seen in the area. More recently a small fish canning factory and then a fish freezer preserved fish for market. The freezer closed in 1947.
The campsite has a toilet. There is no drinking water so ensure you bring enough for your stay. Small boats can be launched from the beach although there are no facilities for this and vehicle access is through very soft sand. Lower tyre pressure is recommended for the track to Herald Bight.
