Get the story on two early vintage machines.

The first is a Saunderson Universal Model G. Born in Bedfordshire in 1869. Herbert Percy Saunderson was one of the earliest pioneers of agricultural tractor development in Britain. Trained as a blacksmith, he experimented with various mechanical inventions including 'wind motors' for pumping water, a motor car, narrow-gauge locomotives, tractors and even airplanes. The tractors had many advanced features for the time and were exported and sold around the world. Eventually becoming the largest tractor manufacturer outside North America, Saunderson worked with various partners and the business traded under several different names. Some of the early designs were unconventional: a two-wheel power unit that doubled-up as a motor truck and a 45-50hp machine with three driven wheels. By 1915, Saunderson was offering a range of 'Universal' tractors in varying sizes, including the popular Model G. which had a forward-control driving position, a two-cylinder petrol/paraffin engine, three-point suspension, worm steering and a three-speed transmission. In 1916. the 'Universal' G was reconfigured into a conventional layout with the radiator at the front and the driving position at the rear. Customers included King George V, who bought a G for his Sandringham estate. The G was the only Saunderson model in production during the First World War. and 400 were supplied to the Ministry of Munitions. This tractor, originally owned by Mr Bingham, a farmer from near Lincoln. was purchased by pioneer collector. Derek Hackett, in 1958. In 1968. Derek sold the tractor to John Moffitt and it became part of the Hunday Collection, later moving to Stapehill Abbey before being sold by auction in 2006.

The second is a Motuer Millot Car that converts into a Portable Saw Rig. These were built in France. They were designed to be used as a portable saw rig. A person would drive to you house, cut up your firewood then head to the next. You were able to take the saw rig off and add another seat so it can be used as a transport vehicle. An early and hard to find piece.
