How to Make a Nest Monotype Print on a Gel Plate - Fun with Gelli's

In this video I take you on a tour of how I made a beautiful rustic nest mono print.
When working with gelli's, each pull is an adventure and no two prints will ever look the same. Some will turn out and others will flop. It just so happened that this print had the happy surprise of a "ghost image" from a previous project show up on the final pull. This gave the finished project the illusion of many eggs in the nest, so lovely!

I first learned this technique in a local class with teacher Judy Pence Milsaps. I was also influenced by Gelli Printing with Gabrielle    • Gelli print tutorial birds' nest with...  , and Gabrielle was inspired by Alice-ART    • Alice-ART Gelatine-Druck "Vogelnester...  .

I am in love with the beautiful detail and the naturally rustic results I am getting with this process. I hope you enjoy!

I used tall grass to form the nest, hand cut eggs, and an 8x10 Gelli plate. The image was printed on 100lb smooth Bristol paper for this project.
