A live, fully improvised track performed entirely on hardware.

The Soma Cosmos is the real deal. The Cosmos is an asymmetrical looper, a series of delay lines that fall out of sync and come back together in beautiful and unexpected ways. Its parameters definitely feel carefully curated and chosen so that you, the musician, can get to the music-making while the Cosmos handles the looping. Using the Cosmos is truly a mesmerizing, meditative, blissful experience, and I cannot wait to get back to it.

Here, I ran the lovely Moog Subsequent 37, Tasty Chips GR-1, and Godin Radium Winchester Brown (with effects) into a mixer. The mixer ran to the Meris Polymoon, which added stereo delay that diffuses into a spacey reverb, and then into the Cosmos. Most of the time I was feeding new sound into the Cosmos with infinite feedback, so it's impressive that the Cosmos never clipped or reached its maximum headroom. Toward the end I turn down the feedback so the Cosmos would fade, and gently played guitar over it. I had a musical key in mind when I started but nothing else, and I'm absolutely astounded by the final results. The Cosmos is the real deal.
