🦉 This owl usually lives in the loft of our house, where it mainly sleeps in the daytime--before heading off at dusk to go about its night-time business (Whatever that is. Hunting, I suppose!) But here it is, dozing outdoors. Perhaps it just wanted to enjoy a little sun, or listen to the breeze which was quite noisy today?

There is a mouse plague, at the moment, where I live in the Lachlan Valley of NSW, so it will hardly go hungry with so many mice to feast on. Perhaps it is on a daytime mouse-watch for extra food?

I don't know what sort of owl this is, but I do know the sound they make at night. This owl was so well camouflaged, in the shadows of smilax, privet and crabapple leaves, that I thought it was just a piece of bark or branch. Very clever disguise!
