Ash Wednesday, the end of Carnival, the coming of Spring in a time of rebirth as the world contemplates the unthinkable realization of War.
Mardi Gras and Carnival was a huge part of my world growing up in Louisiana. I wrote this song after going through cancer in 2011
and Recorded it in a few different studios, #trackshack in Sacramento, on Ash Wednesday, 2015, and finished the overdubs with #hggutternigg, and #rainergutternigg in Linz Austria, Bass in #corazondejesusspain, with #alvarofernandez, Guitar in Alabama, with #leeyankie, Vocals in New York with #vaneesethomas, and the piano video was shot at #Dauphinstreetsound, in #mobilealabama, home to the 1st Mardi Gras in America.

The song begins with a Brass band, playing a dirge, as in a New Orleans Funeral Procession, playing the main theme of the song, and morphs into a slow black gospel groove, with piano, Organ and full band. The background vocalist is my friend Vaneese Thomas from Memphis, whose father was the Legendary Rufus Thomas of Stax Records and DJ of WDIA,. Vaneese was the background vocalist for Aretha Franklin, and has a great career as a solo artist. Please check out her great music online
