Shalva Mikhailovich Taktakishvili (1900 - 1965)
Georgian composer.
In 1922 he became one of the founders of the "Society of Young Musicians of Georgia". In 1928 he graduated from the Tiflis Conservatory, class of Professor Sergei Barkhudaryan (composition). He performed as a concert violinist. In 1928-1933 he was one of the founders, teacher and director of the Music College in Batumi. In 1934-1938 he was the artistic director and conductor of the choral ensemble of Radio Tbilisi. In 1938-1939 he was the artistic director of the Red Army Song and Dance Ensemble of the Transcaucasian Military District. Since 1952 - conductor of the State Capella of the Georgian SSR. Since 1937 - teacher of the Tbilisi Conservatory (since 1941 professor); In 1937-1939 he taught an opera class, and from 1951 he was the conductor of the opera studio at the Conservatory. He wrote romances and worked on arrangements of folk songs.
