Описание к видео Early Season Muskies at NIGHT! | HOW to Catch them in the DARK! S5.E04

It was enjoying a beautiful day of muskie hunting and, that was just that! The weather was gorgeous and the warmth of the early June day was breathing new life into the system but the muskies seemed to be enjoying the picturesque spring day a little too much! After 8 hours of casting I had very little to show for my efforts except for a sore back that was being put to the test as I heaved casts out in search of a giant musky.

At this point I had tried many different spots but I decided that it was time to check reef that had been holding good numbers of feeding muskies recently to see if a wolfpack had moved in. On my first pass I was amazed to see a side imaging follow on my twin-800 Buchertail tinsel! I quickly snapped on a TopRaider and fired a cast back in the direction I thought the fish had followed from and sure enough, a large wake appeared behind my TR but vanished halfway to the boat. Although I was pumped to have experienced the first real musky action of the day, it was unfortunately short-lived.

Not wanting to over-pressure the area I left the scene and continued trying to apply the same approach that had produced the musky action but still, I found the muskies unwilling to cooperate. Hours later I again decided that it was time to revisit my “old friend” and after peppering the entire area with my twin-800 Buchertail tinsel I was disappointed to not have seen the big musky. In a moment of frustration I snapped my TopRaider back on and slung a long cast out and yelled, “come on! I know you are here!” The words hadn’t left my lips when a huge explosion rocked the water’s surface. The musky had hit my TR and knocked it out of the water in what looked like an act of territorial rage.

Feelings of frustration began to morph into a belief that I was going to be able to get this big musky to eat, but it was a game and I had to play by her rules! Moonrise was around 9 PM on this particular evening and I figured that, due to the close proximity to sunset, that THIS would be the time to bag this bruiser musky. So, I waited things out and fished different spots and the muskies continued enjoying their day at the spa. But at 8:45 PM it was time to move into position and execute the plan! As the sun set and left an orange glow in the western sky the poetic sound of my baby loon TopRaider was but by the eerie suspense of the situation. I knew a giant lurked beneath but as darkness began to set-in and no muskellunge movement had been detected, I was perplexed! How had this big brusier of a musky burned valuable calories toying with my lures and then not actually attempted to make a meal out of it??? I couldn’t believe it!

There were two choices: put the boat on the trailer and head home or, continue pursuit. I was determined that I would be able to trigger this musky into striking but perhaps she was waiting to feed in the privacy of the night. I snapped my twin-800 Buchertail tinsel in “Goldilocks” back on and started working the spot again. It only took just a handful of casts until the peaceful quiet of the night was suddenly interrupted by wine of my drag slipping as the big musky shook her head violently at the surface! She had finally decided to eat and this time, she ATE THE WHOLE THING! After a wild fight in the dark I was able to slip the net under a super-fat 4-foot long musky and the hunt was complete. Touchdown! Watch this video and then, stay tuned for a breakdown of the hunt and a discussion of what led to this night fishing success!
