Virtually all Android smartphones and tablets have a special boot mode referred to as Recovery Mode. On Xiaomi devices, this is called MIUI Recovery and in today's video I'll be showing you how to boot the Redmi Note 12 into Recovery Mode.

Just like other Android devices, this can be done in a couple of different ways. We'll be focusing on the button combination method in this video.

To begin, we want to initiate the reboot process by first bringing up the Power Menu. This is done by pressing and holding the Power button for a few seconds. This will activate the sliding menu that you see here and we can get the smartphone to restart by swiping down on this button here.

As soon as you see the screen go black, we want to press and hold the Volume Up button. As long as we continue holding the Volume Up button, this should trigger Recovery Mode and prevent the phone from booting into Android. Instead, we should be greeted the MIUI Recovery 5.0 main menu. Once you see this menu you can then let go of the Volume Up button.

Similarly to other Recovery Mode screens, you are not going to be able to interact with this menu using the touchscreen. This is all going to be controlled by the hardware buttons on the side of the device.

So we can press the Volume Up or Volume Down buttons to change which option is highlighted here. If you're seeing this text in Chinese like it is here, then you probably have the China MIUI ROM installed, just like I do. But I can still help you to navigate this menu.

Reboot
Wipe Data
Connect with MiAssistant
Safe Mode

As we control which option is highlighted in blue, we can select it by pressing the Power button. So if we wanted to perform a factory data reset, we would choose the Wipe Data Option and then we'd need to confirm whether or not we wanted to follow through with that option.

The same with rebooting the phone back into Android. If we select the Reboot option then we need to confirm if we want to reboot or if we want to go back to the MIUI Recovery main menu.

Connecting the phone to MiAssistant is a way to secure a connection between the smartphone and the Xiaomi Phone Assistant program that is installed on a PC. This used to be called Mi PC Suite but looks to have recently changed its name. You can use this for creating backups, restoring data from a backup, flashing firmware, and more.

And Safe Mode is just like you would expect from other Android devices. I'll be covering this in a future video so we don't need to focus on that today.

When you are ready to exit Recovery Mode on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12, we need to highlight this top option here and then press the Power button to select it. We then need to press the Volume Down button to highlight the second option in this menu and then press the Power button to confirm we want to reboot the smartphone.

As long a we are not holding down any buttons during the reboot process then the Redmi Note 12 should reboot back into Android like normal.

If you find that your device is rebooting back into Recovery Mode again. . .or even booting into Fastboot Mode. . .while you are trying to reboot back into Android then your device is likely in what is referred to as a bootloop, and the first thing I can recommend you do is perform a factory data reset from Recovery Mode in an attempt to restore the Android OS so your phone can be rebooted like normal.

If you have a case installed on your Redmi Note 12, then the case may be pressing on one of those Volume Buttons by accident. So it's best to always remove the case if you begin to experience a bootloop with your device.

So that wraps up this video on how to boot the Redmi Note 12 into and out of Recovery Mode. If you have any questions about this process or get stuck along the way then please feel free to leave a comment down below this video.
