Moon Chasers for Marimba Soloist and Percussion Ensemble - Mark Ford

Moon Chasers for Marimba Soloist and Percussion Ensemble is based on Ford's marimba solo by the same name. Written for his wife, Ewelina, Moon Chasers is the story of two people in love who are unable to be together. So the moon connects them like a bridge across the ocean. The music is a cinema-scope journey of three themes that follow an unexpected path.

The percussion ensemble version of Moon Chasers was commissioned and premiered by the Lebanon Trail High School Percussion Ensemble directed by Benji Baker on April 26, 2023. This video is the recording of the premiere. The ensemble is written for 12 players including 9 percussionists, the soloist, a piano part and an optional harp part.
