Caribbean Vulnerable Communities Coalition is one of six (6) partners with Jamaica AIDS Support for Life (JASL). The partnership comprises of five (5) civil society organisations and one (1) government entity. The other entities are Jamaican Network of Seropositive (JN+), Jamaica Community of Positive Women (JCW+), Eve for Life and Jamaica Forum for Lesbians, All-Sexuals and Gays (J-FLAG) as civil society partners and the National Family Planning Board (NFPB) as a government partner. The project is funded by the UN Trust Fund.

An important activity under the project was the sensitisation of 60 police officers of which we trained 58. The training took place with two (2) cohorts (March 10, July 14 and September

28,2016) for cohort 1 and October 11-13,2016 for cohort 2

The overall objective of the activity was to build the capacity of members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) to address violence against women and girls in an ethical and effective way. The specific objective of the activity is to sensitize a select cohort of police officers for increased responsiveness to issues relating to gender based violence/ violence against women (GBV/VAW) and support their ability to treat with similar urgency as other acts of violence.

The workshops were delivered in three (3) modules:

Module 1: Personal Perceptions, Attitudes and Beliefs Related to Gender, GBV and STIs including HIV

Module 2: Human Rights and Gender Based Violence

Module 3: The Links of GBV /VAW, STIs including HIV and Human Rights
