ShutterLand composite shutters are constructed from Extira. This material is specifically manufactured for exterior use. It is dense, strong and virtually impervious to moisture. The surfaces may have some light texture but is mostly smooth. Priming and painting are necessary for protection and to make the exterior shutters vibrant and attractive. Composite shutters cannot be stained.

Composite exterior shutters are crafted into several different styles, including louvered, raised panel, shaker panel, flat panel, combination, and board and batten. The ShutterLand website provides detailed specifications of each.

Installation of composite shutters may benefit from an assistant to hold and balance the shutters while they are being secured to the house. The shutters can be installed to all types of material as long as there is a solid receptor for the screws. The Lexan brackets are Polycarbonate and are strong enough for any size shutter.

Brackets can be cut to adjust the size for arch top shutters.

Composite shutters have a very long life expectancy and should be repainted on the same schedule as the home.
