The best time to sow garlic is from the last week of September to the first week of October.

How to sow
Sow garlic cloves 3 to 5 cm deep, with their growing heads facing up. Space cloves 7.5 cm apart, and rows 15 cm apart. Cover the cloves with soil and lightly water.

Soil
Garlic grows best in well-drained, friable soil that's rich in organic matter and has a pH of 6–7. Heavy soils and extremely acidic soils are not ideal.

Climate
Garlic requires short days and a cool, moist period of 12–18°C during vegetative growth.

Harvest
On average, it takes about 9 months from seed to harvest.
