Modern Forehand Problems and Solutions - Tennis Forehand (Part Two)
We all struggle with certain aspects when it comes to the modern tennis forehand. Some days you may struggle to generate power or topspin, other days it may be the timing that feels off. Whatever the issue is, there is always a solution.
Watch part one here -    • Modern Forehand Problems and Solution...
In this video, coach Simon Konov of Top Tennis Training will help you to improve your tennis forehand problems and give you solutions to:
- Balance on the Forehand
- Struggling To Generate Power on the Forehand
- Footwork Issues on the Forehand

Balance
Losing balance during the swing can cause many issues on the tennis forehand, from poor timing to more serious issues with lower back or knee injuries. Maintaining good balance starts with using a wide athletic base when setting up and using the non-hitting hand, this is your left hand if you're right-handed, to help you balance the upper body and stay in sync with your hitting hand.

Power
Creating more power on the tennis forehand is one of the main goals for most tennis players. We all love to crush forehand winners!
But often players will struggle to create that extra snap on the ball. This often happens because players are too stiff and try to muscle the ball.
Being loose and relaxed is key in producing effortless power. Gripping the racket too tight will cause your muscles to be stiff and slow. When preparing to hit the forehand, you can wiggle the tips of your fingers off the grip, this will reduce grip pressure and help the muscles stay loose.
Another important aspect of staying loose is to exhale prior to and during the contact zone. This will help the body stay relaxed, holding your breath will increase the tension in your body.
Using the larger muscle groups such as the core muscles to coil and uncoil and the leg muscles to load and unload will help your body produce extra power on the forehand.
