Terrestrial and infrastructure surveying has evolved considerably over several years. Recent advancements in remote sensing technologies and automation (such as AI) enable data to be collected and processed at unprecedented scales. In addition to the time, quality, and cost benefits; the intangible benefits are often overlooked. Worker safety, jobsite analysis, traffic safety planning and future use cases are all reasons to consider the variety of technologies available to the infrastructure and utilities sector. This presentation will showcase several tools and automation technologies that infrastructure and utility owners have available for a variety of project environments. The intended outcome is to provide participants with some information to enable a more informed assessment of the surveying/data collection technology landscape to help determine the best solution for the task(s) at hand.
