We are introducing to you Orutu, a one-stringed instrument of the Luo community in Kenya. It was/is being played during community important occasions e.g Childbirth and naming ceremonies, initiation, Wedding, funeral and other ceremonies. As MANENE CULTURAL TRUST we document and preserve tangible and intangible heritage of Orutu and other instruments for posterity by offering platform for those who wish to learn how to make it, preserve and play the instrument.
