History of the Buffalo Zoo (2007)

Founded in 1875, The Buffalo Zoo (The Buffalo Zoological Society) is the third oldest zoo in the United States. Today, the Zoo houses more than 900 endangered and exotic species, among others, and offers visitors a variety of events and educational programs, year-round. The Zoo is dedicated to increasing awareness of conservation by providing visitors and supporters with a better understanding of nature, including how animals relate to each other, their often unique environments, and to humankind.
