Kanyakla - Does Jesus Care?

"It had been a long week. There much was in my mind. Also, I was going through some struggles. Moreover, I had not yet come to terms with my uncle's mysterious death, and for the first time, I doubted God. He was a very young and promising man, the only hope for his family. His wife was on cancer treatment. I didn’t want to imagine that God allowed it to happen, and I was furious at Him. Then Sabbath morning came. It was one of those days you don't feel like going to church, but you sit there in the house and get bored, and besides, you don’t want a lot of questions. So, I just forced myself and went to church. I found the pulpit team already seated.
It was a development sabbath, but I don’t know why the preacher decided to base his sermon on the song “Does Jesus Care?”. You see, on such sabbaths, we expect the preacher to urge us to give for God’s work. But then, he decided to use this song in his sermon. He illustrated it so well, line by line, highlighting how close God is in all circumstances. I was convinced that that sermon was just meant for me. I was revived. I got a different view of God. ‘Vile nilikuwa nimecatchia Mungu nikaacha’ (I was mad at God but I stopped being angry).
I also got a different touch for the song. I could not wait for the Kanyakla meeting to sing it in a very personal way: in the first person singular.
It has, henceforth, been my favorite hymn. Indeed, “He cares, and His heart is touched with my grief.”"
