In my professional line of work, I come across many many applications to raise money, especially from early stage businesses or start ups.

I have created a free two page document that you can download in the link above, which basically is a fact-finding guide to a potential opportunity you are looking at.

Founders may often omit or leave out certain bits of info or exaggerate certain bits in order to effectively sell you the opportunity. Your job as an investor is to look at it completely objectively, see if it marries up to your own investment objectives, and then make a decision based on that.

In this video I’m going to go through this comprehensive checklist, so you know exactly what to look out for when considering an investment in an early stage or start up business. This is also a very good exercise for founders or business owners who are out to raise some investment, as you can see the sort of questions that a VC fund or angel investor is interested in finding out.
