When we started our trip to Albania, the plan was to just go to the capital city, Tirana, and maybe one more town.

Once we got there, we realized this would not be enough to fully take in everything this country has to offer... so we decided to rent a car and do a road trip!

The first destination on this trip was to the amazing town of Berat. Aptly nick-named the "City of a Thousand Windows," Berat is partially made of many Ottoman-style houses on the side of a hill, making it look like there are a thousand windows staring back at you!

There is so much to see in Berat from the surrounding mountains to the castle on the top of the hill. This castle is not like others, though! It is still fully alive and well with a number of coffee shops, bars, and vendors - there's even still people living inside the castle walls! We spent a large amount of time exploring and could have definitely spent more.
