In 2003, the remains of a building were found between two stone circles on the Ness of Brodgar - a strip of land between two lochs.

Excavation has since revealed a Neolithic complex with structures dating from between 3300-2400BC. This was more than a domestic settlement. From the evidence uncovered so far, we think it was a special meeting place for the people of Neolithic Orkney and beyond.
