Carla has translated into Spanish the voices of Nnedi Okorafor, Martha Wells, or Becky Chambers, among others. As an editor, they were part of Crononauta press, a feminist publisher specialised in women and non-binary authored stories. They are also behind ‘Voces de lo insólito’, an independent publishing project translating into Spanish short stories that bring a new approach to the speculative landscape in Spain

Israel Alonso (Independent publisher)
Israel Alonso has been behind Editorial Cerbero since 2016, publishing science fiction, fantasy and horror with an emphasis in underrepresented voices. Intending to reinvent the classic ‘novelas de a duro’ format, the publisher has focused on short fiction and novellas. Alsono has published voices like Nieves Delgado, Yolanda Camacho, Lola Robles, Eleazar Herrera or Sara Sacristán Horcajada.

Cristina Macía (Translator, writer and organiser of the Celsius 232 festival)
Cristina Macía is one of the most relevant figures in Spanish SFF landscape. She has been co-organising the successful Celsius 232 since 2011, bringing international voices such as Catriona Ward, Mariana Enríquez, or Anna Starobinets, among others. She was behind the publication of the Alucinadas series, and led until recently the publishing platform ‘Lektu’. As a translator, she brought into Spanish the iconic George R Martin’s ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’. She also published fiction, highlight ‘Una casa con encanto’ (2005).

Clara Dies Valls (Artist, writer and independent publisher)
Self-identified as a ‘mythology and folklore nerd’, Clara Dies Valls is an illustrator, author and independent publisher. She has successfully brought forward crowdfunding initiatives such as ‘Salir del camino’ (2024), an anthology of queer folk tales, or ‘Breve viaje por la España de las brujas’ (2024), an illustrated book about history and folklore of witchcraft in Spain. Her work has been recognised by Spanish readership with the Ignotus Award.
