Nanzenji Temple, Morning walk in Kyoto: Feel the contrast created by the historical gate｜京都の庭、南禅寺の三門

In the morning, the sunlight shines through the large entrance gate, guiding visitors to the beautiful maple garden behind it. They experience a unique contrast between the massive wooden gate and the delicate maple leaves as they enter the temple. While the gate retains its historical beauty, the maple garden changes color with the seasons. The brick aqueduct, constructed in 1890, was built to provide water and transport goods from Lake Biwa. Before leaving the temple, visitors pass under the massive gate again through the protected inner garden.
