Learn why TryEngineering Together was perfect for students as they switched from in-classroom to virtual learning.

In this video, NYC 3rd grade teacher Lisa Hamlin discusses what happened to the TryEngineeringTogether eMentoring program when they had to switch from in-classroom to virtual learning.

Lisa explains that the TryEngineeringTogether program made the transition a little bit smoother. The rest of her classroom was turned upside down, but the TryEngineering component stayed the same and the students were able to use it without any changes. So, it was perfect for them.

The reason was that everything with the program was online from the beginning. The students were comfortable with the platform. Their pen pal letters were all online. All the articles were online. So, switching to virtual learning with TryEngineeringTogether was pretty much seamless.

And even the projects worked as most of the materials required could be found at home. Things like paper, paper clips, rubber bands, string, and cardboard. So the students were able to continue on doing the engineering challenges and although they weren't working with partners in class, they were able to work with siblings or do it on their own or with their parents.
