A trip to newly promoted Rushall Olympic. A small village with a population of around 12000 not far from Walsall. Having watched highlights of previous Pics games. They looked a decent side, liked to get on the ball and play it. So wasn’t expecting an easy game. Then when we scored after 11 mins, I was expecting a rout. Instead the game went flat for me.
Both teams had chances but just felt laboured from a Scunthorpe perspective. Into the second half and very much the same. Great save by Fitzsimmons from point blank really. We just kept pushing forward. Then Whitehall dinked one over the keeper and Denton who was pushed further up the pitch after Kelly cane on hit an outrageous effort over the keeper and into the net.
3-0 job done, wasn’t pretty but it was 3 points. Fans behind the goal and side of pitch were in fine voice.
