Stamping Ground, Kentucky is the only town in the world to be named "Stamping Ground". The "spring" in town is a mineral spring which attracted Buffalo from throughout the region to drink the cool, tasty water. The Bison herds, so great in number, literally trampled the Earth around the spring creating a depression which resulted in the town being called Stamping Ground.
