Berlin - Carnival of Cultures 2024 [4K]

When my friend told me the carnival of cultures is his favourite festival I was sceptical, because I couldn't imagine Berlin could have a bigger and more colourful festival than Christopher Street Day which is already massive. Also it was hard for me to miss such a big event in the last five years I've been living here. So, I had to go and see the parade. It turns out I've been really missing out on one of the city's best events for years.

From our landing point of Hallesches Tor to the Gneisenaustraße, where the street parade was, market stalls of food and handcrafts from all around the world were represented. Performance stages and carousels were set up in the open space around Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche.

It was mostly a cloudy and rainy day but that didn't slow down the carnival. People climbed every nook and crevice to watch the dancers and musicians and giant puppets. It was a fun atmosphere. We tried to take some pictures with our new camera but as newbies we were not confident enough to take shots so carefree so we couldn't even finish half the roll, but as soon as we got them developed I'll make a separate video out of the results.

Some of the metro stations were closed to prevent congestion and at 17pm many more people were flocking to the scene while we were already tired and wanted to return home. While trying to escape the flow of people, we found ourselves near Tempelhofer Feld and decided to sit down at the beer garden to rest, but the clouds were putting on a magnificent show, so we ended up walking through the park spontaneously.
